Acupuncture Support for Fertility Health

Acupuncture can increase conception rates for IVF and IUI.

Natural Support

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) helps to normalize a woman's menstrual cycle, thereby creating more regularity, plus less discomfort and pain. In this approach, TCM works to enhance, protect and support the natural potential of a woman's fertility.

Acupuncture treatment and Chinese herbal therapy prepare a woman's mind, body and spirit, so she can become pregnant, and hold a pregnancy for the full term.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) & Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) Support

The chance of conception increases when reproductive-specific acupuncture treatments are received in conjunction with IUI or IVF.

Many Reproductive Endocrinologists refer their clients to me to help with stress and fertility support.

Research has shown that conception rates increased to 51% when acupuncture was administered before and after IVF transfers, as compared to only 36% when transfers were done without acupuncture.

TCM can help complement the IVF or IUI process, by:

  • regulating hormones and lowering elevated FSH levels
  • increasing ovarian function and the quality of eggs produced
  • reducing side effects from hormone treatments
  • increasing blood flow to the endometrial lining, thereby enhancing the chances of a successful implantation

Research on TCM & Fertility

In three published landmark studies, clinical research found that:

  • acupuncture works to relax the uterus, thereby increasing blood flow and allowing for successful implantation of an embryo in the uterine lining
  • acupuncture can be offered as a significant and clinically relevant adjunct to IVF
  • conception rates increased to 51% when acupuncture was administered before and after IVF transfers, as compared to only 36% when transfers without acupuncture were done
  • acupuncture reduces anxiety and stress, thereby reducing hormones secreted during stressful situations that can decrease fertility
  • acupuncture normalizes hormone and endoctrine systems
  • acupuncture positively affects the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which plays a key role in fertility
  • acupuncture regulates the menstrual cycle
